Robert David begins to play guitar when his uncle teaches him and initiates him to Gypsy Jazz. From then on, he improves quickly and joins several bands in various styles (reggae, funk, progessive metal, soul, rock, jazz-rock…!). He also decides to compose for ADONYS 5-1, thereby giving birth to the «70’s Soft Rock Story» album which reflects a part of his influences.
His latest project is for the american film “The Director” by Christina Voros and James Franco.
His musical influences: progressive rock (Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd), jazz-rock (Return to Forever, Weather Report), jazz (Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Keith Jarrett…), bossa nova (adoration of Stan Getz), funk (veneration for Stevie Wonder and Prince!!), romantic classical music (Rachmaninov, Debussy), die-hard rock (Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin), blues (Clapton, Buddy Guy, ZZ Top), and film music (Ennio Morricone)… but also: Supertramp, Dire Straits, Queen, Tears For Fears, Simple Minds, U2, Sting, Peter Gabriel and David Bowie.
His guitaristic influences: Steve Hackett (he triggered my interest in guitar… thanks to the solo of “Firth Of Fifth” from the album “Selling England By The Pound”!), but also: Santana, Steve Vai, John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny, Sylvain Luc, Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour and Mike Oldfield!
