Fueled by a love of quality & quirky songwriting by the likes of XTC, Divine Comedy & Crowded house, Dictafone began life in 2002. Drawing vocal comparisons with Lloyd Cole and Jeff Buckley, “Wrapped up in a £5 note” showcased Duncan’s talent for straight ahead Pop/Rock as well as more adventurous forays into Storytelling songs with a richly layered accompaniment.
“Home” album number three saw the band head out to the Normandy countryside and lay down eleven tracks that caught the attention of legendary producer Ken Scott (Beatles, Bowie, Supertramp, Lou Reed etc). Finished off in Paris, the songs further benefitted from prestigious musical additions – Lenny Kravitz’s horn section – before being mixed by Mr Scott in Los Angeles and released in France, Japan and Canada in 2011.
